Corporate Culture:Culture requires effort. It needs to be shaped and managed. - Find something symbolic to build culture. e.g. Buy dinner for those staying late. Have regular pot luck meals. Hold a regular Tuesday Online Game Challenge from 5:30-6:00. Create a hokey trophy that gets awarded to the designer that kills the most bugs or that finds the most bugs. Put white boards near the coffee machine or in hallways where people can hold impromptu meetings.
Objectives and Reviews:- Do you set annual, quarterly or half-year objectives? Do the people on your team know exactly what to do, how to prioritize and what hurdle to meet? Set performance objectives on a regular basis. Make them quantitative both in terms of time and quality. e.g. get 10 articles mentioning our product or company each quarter.
- Do you do annual performance reviews? Do your staff know how well they are performing and what they need to do to improve? Are they evaluating you and how effective you are as a leader/manager? Do an annual performance review. Continuous improvement is a very powerful corporate culture.
